Sterilising
|
The sterilising process is used in a multitude of industries. Our experience and tests conducted have been within the Macadamia Industry. The existing trials within the industry have shown favourable and positive results for the treatment of Salmonella, E-Coli, Standard Plate Count and Collar Forms. We have identified significant reductions in yeasts and moulds; and in association with other aligned treatments a significant reduction in aflatoxin contamination.
Myra has been running sterilisation processes within the macadamia industry for the past 2 years.
Validation processes have not been performed, though we intend to perform this as this does take some time before the validation is complete.
Since running our sterilisation tests, we can offer the following results:

Myra has been running sterilisation processes within the macadamia industry for the past 2 years.
Validation processes have not been performed, though we intend to perform this as this does take some time before the validation is complete.
Since running our sterilisation tests, we can offer the following results:
- We have taken salmonella affected product from ‘detected’ (colonies/250 grams) to a ‘not detected’ state.
- We have taken E-Coli and collar forms (colonies per 0.1 of a gram) from greater than 110 to less than 0.3 (limit of detection level).
- We have taken Moulds and yeast – from 13,000 (CFU/gram) to less than 100 (CFU/gram) (detection level).
- Standard Plate Count (SPC) in CFU/gram from 14,000 to less than 10 (limit of detection level).
- We have taken an afla-toxin contamination from 42 to less than 2. This requires more than just a sterilisation process but incorporates a decontamination/sterilisation and drying process.
